ABSTRACT:
An impulsive snap-through acoustic pulse generator may be used to generate n acoustic pulse in an aqueous environment without gas bubbles. The impulsive snap-through acoustic pulse generator includes a support structure having an open end; a resilient shell mounted to the support structure to define a chamber, and a gas vent in fluid communication with the chamber through which a gas passes for changing the pressure in the chamber so that the resilient shell transitions from a first stable state to a second stable state, thereby generating an acoustic pulse.
