ABSTRACT:
A continuously variable transmission comprises a V-belt tensioned between a driver pulley and a follower pulley. Hydraulic fluid pressure that determines a gripping force which the driver pulley grips the V-belt with is reduced upon detecting a demand for engine brake running of a motor vehicle, whereby a good engine brake feel is assured during transient period to the engine brake running.
