ABSTRACT:
This invention relates to a new and distinct variety of New Guinea Impatiens plant known by the cultivar name Shawnee, and discovered by me in commercial greenhouses in Fremont, Calif.
If pressed to compare to a known variety, Shawnee has a foliage that is closest in comparison to U.S. Department of Agriculture Arabesque; but the comparison is slight. Shawnee is unlike other varieties because of its distinctively wide variegation (dark green outer rim with prominent red veins in an off-gold center), its upright growth habit, good breaking action, fairly compact, and a medium-sized pink flower.
