ABSTRACT:
Novel amides and imides are inhibitors of tumor necrosis factor.alpha. and phosphodiesterase and can be used to combat cachexia, endotoxic shock, retrovirus replication, asthma, and inflammatory conditions. Typical embodiments include 3-(1,3-dioxobenzo[f]isoindol-2-yl)-3-(3-cyclopentyloxy-4-methoxyphenyl)pro pionamide and 3-(1,3-dioxo-4-azaisoindol-2-yl)-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-propionarnide.
