ABSTRACT:
There is disclosed substituted 2,3-dihydro-2-oxo-1H-imidazole-4-carboxaldehyde derivatives of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently are alkyl or mono or di-substituted phenyl, R.sup.3 is chloro, alkoxy, alkylthio, or NR.sup.4 R.sup.5 in which R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are alkyl or alkenyl, and X is O or N-alkyl. The compounds are herbicides.
