ABSTRACT:
An image transmission optical system comprising a relay lens system for a single image relaying cycle which has a magnification of approximately 1.times. and comprises at least one radial gradient-index lens element having a refractive index distribution expressed by the formula (a) shown below and satisfying the following condition (1), thereby favorably correcting logitudinal chromatic aberration produced by the relay lens system for a single image relaying cycle.
