ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is image receiving sheet having a support sheet, a first image receiving layer thereon and a second image receiving layer provided on the first image receiving layer; wherein the second image receiving layer comprises butyral resin and polymer having at least one of recurring units represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and Q represents a group having amide bond, a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group, or a phenyl group substituted with residue of ammonium salt. Further, a thermal transfer recording methods by area gradation using a heat sensitive ink sheet and the image receiving sheet are also disclosed.
