ABSTRACT:
A reduction optical system including a lens12and a mirror13, a CCD image sensor11and a frame including a frame member4for accommodating the reduction optical system and the CCD image sensor are integrated to constitute an image reading unit2, and the unit2is covered with a cover member1. A lamp3is provided on the cover member1and spatially isolated from the inner space of the unit2. A slit16of the cover member1is closed by a transparent member10.The lamp3emits the light15aonto a document17on a document setting glass18, and the reflected light15bfrom the document17enters the CCD image sensor11through the transparent member10, slit16, slit4′, mirror13and the lens12and is converted into electrical information, thereby reading image information of the document17.
