ABSTRACT:
An image processing apparatus and method, wherein a reference area is specified in a first step, a foreground is specified in the reference area in a second step, the degree T1of appropriateness is calculated in a third step, the degree T2of appropriateness is calculated in a fourth step, the degree T3of appropriateness is calculated in a fifth step, and, in a sixth step, a comparison area having the maximum sum of the degrees T1, T2, and T3of appropriateness is set to a matching area corresponding to the reference area, in a comparison image.
