ABSTRACT:
A sensor produces an image signal indicative of the image of an original. The image signal is subjected to various types of processing by units ranging from an A/D converter 3 to a space filter 13. In an ordinary operating mode, the processing signal is subjected to a .gamma. conversion by a .gamma. conversion table set by a controller 21. If a gradation processing mode has been designated by the user, gradation processing is executed by a gradation processing conversion table set by the controller 21.
