ABSTRACT:
One target pixel is selected from a plurality of defective pixels. By adjusting a searching interval based on the number of pixels included in image data to be processed, one or more normal pixels are searched and detected on each of opposed sides across the target pixel along each search line. By using pixel values of the detected normal pixels, an interpolation value for the target pixel for each search line is calculated. And, by using pixel values of the normal pixels detected along the search line, a weight coefficient is calculated for each search line. Then, by using the interpolation value for the target pixel for each search line and the weight coefficient, a weighted average value of the interpolation value is calculated to be used in correction of the target pixel.
