ABSTRACT:
In an image forming apparatus for forming an image by scanning a rotating photosensitive member with modulated light based on an image signal, a PLL circuit generates a high-frequency clock having a frequency n (n is an integer that satisfies n>2) times that of an oscillation output from a reference oscillating circuit. A frequency dividing circuit generates an image processing clock synchronized with the high-frequency clock and a detection signal from a scan light detecting mechanism. A latch circuit, a parallel/serial conversion circuit, and the like generate an image modulating signal by modulating image data on the basis of the high-frequency clock.
