ABSTRACT:
An image pickup device includes a collapsible lens barrel which is held in a main body of the device in non-picture-taking mode, and a shutter unit which is arranged behind a rearmost one of a plurality of optical lenses that make up the lens barrel and which includes a unit base member having an opening. A plurality of shutter blades are attached to the unit base member, and opened and closed by electromagnetic driving. A first state where when the lens barrel is collapsed, the shutter blades are full-opened and at least part of the optical lenses is located in the opening of the unit base member and a second state where when the lens barrel is projected from the main body of the device, the shutter blades are closed and then opened and closed at required shutter speed are selectively switched to each other.
