ABSTRACT:
A method of forming an image in which a silver halide photographic material having on a waterproof resin coated support, which contains titanium dioxide in the resin, one or more light-sensitive layers each containing silver halide emulsion grains where at least one light-sensitive layer has been spectrally sensitized in accordance with the oscillating wavelength of a laser ray to be applied to the material is exposed by scanning exposure for a period of exposure time, per pixel, of 1.times.10.sup.-7 second or less with a scanning exposure device equipped with an optical modulator capable of varying the quantity of light in plural stages, to form a photographic image. The quantity of the reflection light from the photographic material at the oscillating wavelength of the laser beam is 30% or less of the quantity of the incident light to the same. By the image forming method, a silver halide photographic material may be extremely rapidly exposed by scanning exposure and may be simply processed to give a photographic image in which the color density and the color tone in a pictorial image area do not differ from those of an image area of letters and thin lines.
