An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a guide member140positioned so as to be above a blade60in a casing9of a cleaning section6. The guide member140guides the toner8, which has been scraped from an image carrier1with the blade60, turned into powder smoke and moved to the upper side of the blade60, to the apical surface61of the blade60. The apparatus is capable of reducing the friction coefficient between the blade and the image carrier with its compact and simple structure.
