ABSTRACT:
An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a recording material carrying member for carrying a recording material; an image transfer device for transferring an image from the image bearing member to the recording material carried on the recording material carrying member; an assisting member for assisting the recording material to be carried on the recording material carrying member, the assisting member being movable to and away from the recording material carrying member; wherein the assisting member is in contact with the recording material carrying member after completion of an image forming operation and before start of next image forming operation.
