ABSTRACT:
An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive medium having light sensitive microcapsules thereon which are pressed against a transfer medium to transfer a latent image from the photosensitive medium to the transfer medium. A pressure developing device is employed which generates a load only during that period when the image is being developed on the receiving medium. The photosensitive medium is contained in a detachable container. A thermal treatment mechanism fixes the images formed on the receiving medium and imparts a glossy finish. An illuminating mechanism illuminates directly or indirectly the photosensitive medium. An exposure mechanism subjects a first predetermined region of the photosensitive medium to light representative of the image and a second predetermined region of the photosensitive medium to light nonrepresentative of the image. The exposure mechanism also subjects the first predetermined region of the photosensitive medium to light having a uniform intensity. The image forming apparatus further includes a detachable slide projection unit which permits copying of an image from a slide.
