An image forming apparatus having an oscillating recording head includes a recording device for recording the image onto a recording medium. Oscillating apparatuses provided for oscillatably supporting the recording head in accordance with a reference surface associated with a recording surface of the recording medium. Oscillation auxiliary apparatus supports the recording head to smoothly allow oscillation thereof.
