ABSTRACT:
An image display apparatus100that displays an image using a light modulated according to an image signal includes a projection optical system90that includes a projection lens20, a first mirror30that reflects a light from the projection lens20, and a second mirror40that widens an angle of a light from the first mirror30by reflecting the light, and projects the light modulated according to the image signal from an optical engine unit10; a third mirror50that reflects a light from the projection optical system90; and a screen50that transmits a light from the third mirror50. The projection lens20and the second mirror40are arranged in such a manner that an optical axis of the projection lens20substantially matches an optical axis of the second mirror40, and shift the light from the optical engine unit10to a specific side from the optical axis of the projection lens20. It is possible to cause a light to travel accurately, to display an image, in a thin structure with a small non-display section adjacent to a screen.
