To handle a paper jam, an opening/closing cover21is swiveled a predetermined angle around a pivoting shaft16a, with the opening/closing cover21and a paper transport guide member22ain an unlocked state, to open the opening/closing cover21. The paper transport guide member22aopens thereupon by swiveling around a pivoting shaft16bin response to the opening movement of the opening/closing cover21, thereby opening simultaneously a paper transport path10and a reverse transport path15.
