ABSTRACT:
An illumination optical system for endoscopes which comprises a lens component having at least one aspherical surface in a shape F(h) satisfying the condition mentioned below, and satisfies relationship of h=f.cndot..theta. or h=f.cndot.sin.theta.. This illumination optical system is capable of providing favorable luminance distributions on all planar surfaces, spherical surfaces and tubular surfaces. ##EQU1##
