ABSTRACT:
Ignition apparatus10includes high tension ignition cable56. The cable56is of low electrical resistance per unit length. A central core100of the cable56is formed of carbon fiber filaments. An insulating layer110is provided around the core100. A semiconductor layer120is provided around the insulating layer110. Another insulating layer130is provided around the semiconductor layer120. A layer of yarn around the other insulating layer130forms a protecting layer140. A protective layer150of a flame retardant material forms an outer layer of the cable56. The ignition apparatus10also includes one or more of: a field stabilizer device30for stabilizing and regulating high tension voltage in the cable56; resistor spark plugs60; connectors fitted to ends of the cable56that include resistors therein, such as resistor spark plug boots.
