ABSTRACT:
An ignition and flame monitoring device in which the absence of flame between a pair of sparking electrodes energizes the primary coil of a transformer through an ignition control circuit to step up the voltage of the secondary coil thereof so as to develop a Zener diode into an avalanche breakdown. This causes a spark between the gap electrodes to ignite the flammable gas, building a flame which increases electrical conduction between the electrodes to transmit a flame signal causing a flame detection circuit to deenergize the primary transformer coil so as to stop the electrode spark.
