ABSTRACT:
A conveyor belt advances over an assembly of cylindrical idler rollers. Each idler roller includes a cylindrical body rotatable about an axially disposed tubular shaft. Air under pressure enters the proximal end of the tubular shaft and advances through the tubular shaft to be discharged through openings in the distal end of the tubular shaft. The air under pressure leaving the distal end of the tubular shaft advances through the space between the inner wall of the cylindrical body of the idler roller and the outer wall of the tubular shaft to be vented to atmosphere for reducing heat build-up in the idler roller.
