ABSTRACT:
An identification tag is physically associated with a surgical specimen for accurate identification of the specimen. The tag remains in place through the laboratory to allow accurate identification of specimen and patient. The tag has a hole to receive a staple for stapling to solid tissue, and is flexible to be rolled and inserted into a vial with a liquid specimen or a semi-fluid specimen. The tags are prepared in advance of surgery and are available for rapid association with specimens in the operating room.
