ABSTRACT:
A low-calorie, non-cariogenic sweetener suitable for diabetics comprising (fructosyl).sub.n mannitol and/or (fructosyl).sub.n sorbitol, where n=1-6, or a mixture of these compounds, and a process for the preparation thereof by hydrogenation of homooligomeric fructooligosaccharides.
