ABSTRACT:
This invention provides a process for continuously removing H.sub.2 S from a fouled gas containing some oxygen. The process involves the passing of the fouled gas through a mass of porous hematite pellets in a chamber, thereby producing water and forming elemental sulphur on the pellets, and abrading the pellets to remove the elemental sulphur in a comminuted form. This invention also provides an apparatus adapted to carry out this process.
