The present invention comprises a compound represented by the following structure:in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?Rh′(O—Rf)min-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?wherein:m=3–4Rfis, independently, a perfluoroaliphatic group;Rh′ is independently a linear or branched hydrocarbon with from 3 to about 8 carbon atoms.Another embodiment is an apparatus comprising a device and a mechanism for heat transfer comprising a hydrofluoroether heat-transfer fluid.Another embodiment of the present invention is a method for heat transfer.
