ABSTRACT:
A catalyst composition contains a zeolite, cerium or cerium oxide, and a Group VIII metal or metal oxide. The composition is produced by contacting the zeolite with compounds of the metals and then heat-treating the metals-containing zeolite. Hydrocarbons are converted to C.sub.6 -C.sub.8 aromatic hydrocarbons by contacting the hydrocarbons with the catalyst composition at conversion conditions.
