ABSTRACT:
A hydraulic system for controlling the contract force of a hydraulic device. A proportional pressure relief valve acts as pilot valve for a main valve that controls the lowering process. The proportional pressure relief valve is provided with a solenoid whose voltage can be varied. A pressure sensing line is also applied to the same side of the valve as the solenoid for biassing the valve against a spring.
