DESCRIPTION:

BRIEF SUMMARY
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a device for controlling hydraulic or pneumatic pressure for regulating, reducing or increasing the pressure in a chamber, such as a jack or a vehicle tire. The invention also concerns the application of this device to the regulation of pressure, namely inflating and deflating tires on vehicles in motion.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Various devices already exist of the electrovalve or directional valve type, whereby it is possible to regulate the pressure in a chamber such as, for example, a jack or a tire.
These devices have only limited possibilities or present complications owing to their complexity and the necessity of inserting electric controls in situ.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks and to provide a hydraulic or pneumatic pressure control device operating solely by pressurized fluid control means, so that any electric interface is avoided.
Another object of the invention is to provide such a device which may be remote controlled with a single source of pressure.
Another object of the invention is to provide such a device which is capable of operating rapidly and permits the passage of very large fluid flows.
Another object of the invention is to provide such a device which is capable of operating under extremely difficult conditions of environment, temperature, humidity, dust, shocks, vibrations and frost in particular.
Another object of the invention is to provide such a device which does not require the permanent presence of a control or supply pressure.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device whereby it is possible to achieve the seal, for eample on tires, with a single valve and therefore to obtain a safety comparable to a conventional inflating valve.
Another object of the invention is to guarantee a very high reliability of the operation of the escape so as to permit a rapid escape and, in the case of use on vehicle tires, a rapid deflation of the tire.
A further object of the invention is to provide such a device whose purging is easy.
A further object of the invention is to provide such a device which is simple and cheap.
The invention provides a hydraulic or pneumatic pressure control device, of the type adapted to be interposed between a source of pressure, a utilization chamber such as in particular a jack or a pneumatic tire, and an escape, such as for example a purge communicating with the open air, to permit ensuring at will the feeding of fluid under pressure to said chamber or reservoir and the discharge of fluid under pressure from said reservoir to the escape, and therefore comprising a firt orifice for connection to the source of pressure, preferably through a conduit, a second orifice for connection to the utilization reservoir, preferably through a conduit, and a third escape or purge orifice which may be connected in particular to the open air, characterized in that it comprises in a body suitably provided with the three orifices, means responsive to a first control pressure of low value for connecting the utilization reservoir to the escape, and means responsive to a second pressure of high value, which may be the supply pressure coming from the source of pressure, for putting said reservoir in communication with said source of pressure and precluding a communication between said reservoir and the escape.
Preferably, said means are so arranged that the low pressure or the high pressure is conveyed to the device through a single orifice, in the present instance the first orifice connecting the device to the source of pressure.
The aforementioned responsive means may be for example the slides conventionally employed in the hydraulic or pneumatic field, but said means preferably comprise clack valves or valves controlled by diaphragms.
Preferably, the third orifice, or escape orifice, is normally in the closed state, for example closed by a clack valve, the latter being responsive, for its opening, to the pressure established in a valve control
