ABSTRACT:
An oil driven supercharger is disclosed with the turbine operating on oil from the lubricating system of an internal combustion engine or from a separate source of pressure oil. In the disclosed form of the invention, the turbine drives a pair of air compressors one at each end of a shaft to which the turbine rotor is centrally connected. The disclosed turbine is provided with several means for adjusting the flow rate of the oil used to drive the turbine to accommodate for different sizes of air compressors and different engine sizes. Also disclosed are several examples of how the paired air compressors may be connected to the intake manifold of an engine and/or to the exhaust manifold to dilute exhaust gases and assist in the combustion of uncombusted exhaust products.
