ABSTRACT:
A hydraulic drive system is mounted on a hydraulic excavator, and is provided with a directional control valve23for a boom, a directional control valve24for an arm, a boom control device25for selectively controlling the directional control valve23for the boom, and an arm control device26for selectively controlling the directional control valve24for the arm. The directional control valves23, 24control a boom cylinder6and an arm cylinder7, respectively, which are driven by pressure oil delivered from a main hydraulic pump21. The hydraulic drive system is provided with a communication control unit for communicating a rod chamber6bof the boom cylinder6and a bottom chamber7aof the arm cylinder7with each other when a stroke of the arm control device26has become a predetermined amount S or greater.
