ABSTRACT:
[Aliphatic nitriles] Olefinic nitriles of three to six carbon atoms are converted to the corresponding amides by contacting the nitrile in the presence of water with a cupreous catalyst containing copper prepared by reducing copper hydroxide or a copper salt.
