ABSTRACT:
An inflator10of the present invention contains: a housing12, a cold gas chamber16within the housing12for storage of a stored gas supply, a pyrotechnic chamber18within the housing12, a pyrotechnic charge20within the pyrotechnic chamber18, a wall22adjoining the cold gas and the pyrotechnic chambers16, 18, a first orifice24defined in the wall22for passage of gas between the chambers, and a perforated flexible member28contained within the cold gas chamber16, wherein the flexible member28is fixed about the orifice24for modulation or controlled variation of gas flow through the orifice24.
