ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a method of producing hyaluronic acid that includes introducing a purified nucleic acid segment having a coding region encoding enzymatically active hyaluronan synthase into aBacillusstrain, and culturing theBacillusstrain under conditions appropriate for the production of hyaluronic acid.
