The present invention is directed to a method for the isolation of Human Nerve Growth Factor (HNGF) from human placenta. More particularly, the invention is directed to the method of isolation of the .beta.-subunit of Human Nerve Growth Factor and Compositions containing the same for the treatment of neuropathological conditions.
