ABSTRACT:
Homopolymers and copolymers of vinyl ethers of the formula I ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen or methyl and R.sup.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl, benzyl, allyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -acyl, are effective stabilizers for plastics, especially to protect them against photochemical degradation. The monomeric vinyl ethers of the formula I are novel compounds, which can be prepared from the corresponding piperidinols by vinylation by means of acetylene or by transvinylation by means of vinyl ethers or vinyl esters.
