ABSTRACT:
A hoist pivotally connecting mast1to lifting arm2,by a mechanism comprising a link5pivoting about a fixed pivot8on the mast1and a moving pivot6on the lifting arm2.A restraining link9between a pivot10on the mast1and actuator attachment point11on the lifting arm2restricts the movement of link5.The second link9acts as a stabilizer allowing the pivot11on the lifting arm2to move only through a set arc, determined by the length of the link9and the position of the pivot10on the mast1.With the moving pivot according to the invention, the spreader bar attachment point7has a greater traveling distance than if it were simply pivoted about pivot8as with conventional hoists.
