ABSTRACT:
A hobbing machine comprises a tool support member operably provided on a machine frame and having a tool support shaft, a workpiece support member operably provided on a machine frame and serving to support a workpiece and a tool mounted on a tool support shaft and serving to cut the outer periphery of a workpiece. A drive motor is provided on the tool support member in the neighborhood of the tool and has a motor shaft coaxial with the tool support shaft. A coupling providing shock absorbing effect is provided between the motor shaft and tool support shaft, whereby the tool in directly driven by the motor.
