A highly durable cathode of a low hydrogen overvoltage with particles of an electrode active metal being stuck on the core material of the electrode, wherein a part or all of the electrode active metal particles is a hydrogen absorbing metal which is capable of electro-chemically absorbing and desorbing hydrogen.
