High voltage porcelain insulator comprises, a porcelain body, and a glaze applied on at least a surface of the porcelain body, said porcelain body having a specific resistivity .rho..sub.p of .rho..sub.p .gtoreq.5.0.times.10.sup.13 .OMEGA..cm, and said glaze having a specific resistivity .rho..sub.g of .rho..sub.g <.rho..sub.p.
