ABSTRACT:
Polyethylene/alumina composites which are prepared by polymerizing ethylene onto the surface of low-hydration alumina prepared by calcining alumina trihydrate at a temperature of at least about 300.degree. C provide molded objects having significantly increased tensile strengths as compared with the corresponding composites based on uncalcined alumina trihydrate.
