ABSTRACT:
Odd fields of a high speed television signal within even field intervals of a television signal having a reference frequency are readout from field memories 6, 7 with the time base of the odd fields being expanded. An arithmetical mean of the odd fields thus read out is taken by means of an adder 15 and a divider 16. The signal thus obtained is used as an odd field signal. Further, even fields of the high speed television signal within odd field intervals of the television signal having the reference frequency are read out from field memories 8, 9 with the time base of the even fields being expanded. An arithmetical mean of the even fields thus read out is taken by means of an adder 17 and a divider 18. The signal thus obtained is used as an even field signal.
