ABSTRACT:
A luminaire for high intensity indirect lighting providing a horizontally symmetrical light distribution with peak candle power at low angles is disclosed. The luminaire includes an inner light directing member nested in spaced relation within a generally dome-shaped outer translucent member. The inner light directing member includes means for directing the majority of light emitted by an axially located vertical light source out of the upwardly facing open end of the light directing member after no more than one reflection, and means for illuminating the outer translucent member to a substantially homogenious brightness level comparable to that of the surrounding ceiling.
