An apparatus includes a cam3, a lever8, a switch10, a spring9and fire detection means15. Utilizing an interlocking movement and an operation of the switch, a motor2is driven under a microcomputer control23, and by doing so, the automatic opening and closing movement of a cover1can be effected smoothly and stably. Even when a fire occurs at a cooking device13below the apparatus, the fire detection means15stops the operation of a circulating fan11, and also stops the cover1in an open condition, and by doing so, the spreading of the fire can be limited to a minimum, and also an abnormality in the opening and closing of the cover1can be indicated at a display portion23, and therefore the safety, the durability and the degree of satisfaction of customers can be enhanced.
