ABSTRACT:
A terminal20for use in connecting a battery cable9to a rectangular blade4on a battery2includes a terminal body22and a spring member or multiple contact band70. The spring member70is fabricated from a material that is more elastic than the terminal body22to reduce mating force, but still generate sufficient normal force to provide a good connection to the rectangular blade4. The multiple contact spring band70has a plurality of spring beams in the form of twisted louvered spring beams78or curved spring beams80. The spring member70is positioned within a receptacle section30of the terminal body22that includes two parallel walls32, 46. The terminal body22also includes a wire termination section for attaching the terminal20to a battery cable8. Inline and right angle versions of the terminals employ similar spring members70.
