Novel substituted heterocyclic formamidines are useful as ultraviolet light absorbers, the formamidines having the formula ##STR1## wherein: Ar represents a 2-thiazolyl, 2-pyridyl, 2-(4,6-dimethyl) pyrimidyl or a 4-(2-methyl)quinolyl group, and,
