ABSTRACT:
Herbicidal .alpha.-(4-substituted) phenoxypropionylazoles of the formula ##STR1## wherein Z is the 4-trifluoromethylphenyl, 3,5-dichloropyrid-(2)-yl or 3-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-pyrid-(2)-yl radical, and A is an azole radical which may or may not be substituted and is bonded through a ring nitrogen atom, such as pyrazole, imidazole, triazole or tetrazole, are useful for selectively controlling monocotyledonous weeds. Preferably, the cultivated plants are dicotyledonous, such as wheat, cotton, sugar beet, soybeans and vegetables.
