An oriented heat sealable multilayer film structure having a polyolefin film substrate, a thermoplastic primer coating on the substrate and a heat sealable acrylic or polyvinylidene coating applied to at least one primer coated surface. The primer has a glass transition of from about 0.degree. to about 50.degree. C.
